Genetic Shade

This study was developed within the ‘Evolution and Computation’ workshop by AA Professor Michael Weinstock. Based on the logic of evolutionary development, the algorithm begins with a set number of volumes and performs recursive steps to spatially arrange them. It outputs a different 3D arrangement every time it is run, while each result is given a score according to the fitness criterion, which is to produce a stable building that provides maximum shade coverage with a minimal footprint.
